PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable 1,1,1,3,3-petafluorobutane to be used repeatedly and stably over a long period of time. SOLUTION: The pentafluorobutane composition comprises 100 pts.wt. 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluorobutane, 0.1 to 5.0 pts.wt. at least either of nitromethane and nitroethane, and 0.1 to 5.0 pts.wt at least one member selected from among 1,3-dioxolane, trimethoxymethane, trimethoxyethane, and 1,2-butylene oxide.
