PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aromatic dicarboxylic acid ester derivative having an ethynyl group and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The aromatic dicarboxylic acid ester derivative is represented by formula (1) and has the ethynyl group. The method for producing the ester comprises carrying out a condensation reaction of an isophthalic acid compound having an acetylene group in which the terminal is substituted with an X in the 5-position on the benzene ring with a compound having a hydroxy group in a solvent by using a condensing agent.
