PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method by which a large amount of heat-treated hydroxyapatite-based fine particles can be easily produced by using a compact apparatus. SOLUTION: The production method comprises feeding a raw material (4) comprising a mixed solution or slurry of an aqueous calcium-source solution and an aqueous phosphorus-source solution to a fluidized bed wherein reaction-inert medium particles (1) fluidized by a fluidizing gas (3) are heated within a range of 600-1,350°C, then evaporating water by bringing the raw material (4) into contact with the medium particles (1) of the fluidized bed so as to form hydroxyapatite-based fine particles containing hydroxyapatite as a main component, and taking the hydroxyapatite-based fine particles, desorbed from the medium particles (1) by the fluidizing gas (3), out of the fluidized bed.
