<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insulation inspection device and an insulation inspection method capable of surely inspecting the quality of a connecting work while suppressing insulation deterioration resulted from insulation inspection. <P>SOLUTION: Prior to a main inspection, discharge of an object motor 10 is performed to stabilize measurement of discharge quantity. At that time, the applied voltage is raised stepwise until the discharge quantity exceeds a set value. After the discharge quantity exceeds the set value, the voltage application is terminated. At the time of voltage application, the current value carried to the object motor 10 is measured by a current sensor 3. Namely, whether the object motor 10 is rightly connected to the insulation inspection device 100 or not is determined by the current value carried to the object motor 10.
