PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for grinding a rolling roll with roll chocks by which disturbance in automatic meandering control is eliminated. SOLUTION: In this method for grinding the roll with the chocks as holding the roll chocks on the rolling roll, the roll is ground in the state that the preloaded spring force of the chock to the rolling roll is adjusted so as to be minimized, or/and the roll is ground in the state that the preloaded spring force to the rolling roll is released by relieving a holding part for adjusting the preloaded spring force of the roll chock before grinding the roll.
