<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element capable of suppressing oxidative degradation even when a film is formed on the surface of the optical element, and its manufacturing method. <P>SOLUTION: This optical element is formed by providing a 1st film containing an antioxidant, and thereon a 2nd film having at least one function of anti-reflection, protection, and wavelength selective light transmissivity on the surface of an element made from plastic and having an optical function surface.Accordingly, by covering the surface of the element with the 1st film, a film material containing oxygen elements for the 2nd and other films is prohibited to directly touch the surface of the element when forming a film by vapor deposition for example, and oxidative degradation of the element can be suppressed. Further, since the 1st film contains an antioxidant, oxidative degradations can also be suppressed for the element surface by using such an antioxidant, when transmitting the light flux of a short wavelength for example. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
