<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To significantly improve the bending characteristics and steering properties of a front end part 2A of a medical guide wire 1 consisting of a long flexible core member 2 consisting of the narrow front end part 2A and a hand holding part 2B wider than the front end part 2A, and a coil spring body 3 whose both ends are fixed to the core member 2, and a distal end part 1A with the coil spring body 3 fitted in the front end part 2a of the core member 2. <P>SOLUTION: The front end part 2A of the core member 2 is taper-shaped or whose diameter becomes gradually narrower toward the front end by a truncated cone part 5, etc., and a region of at least 20 mm from the distal end of the front end part 2A is formed as a non-integrated zone L of the coil spring body 3 and the core member 2.
