TAG-BASED SCHEMA FOR DISTRIBUTING UPDATING METADATA IN UPDATE DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tag-based structure for communicating software updating metadata information to a client computer and an update service node. SOLUTION: An update metadata file is provided with: an identification tag including an identifier for uniquely identifying a software updating; a handler-specific data tag for transmitting information toward a software handler for installing the software updating; zero or more general property tags for transmitting information related to the software update; a localized property tag for transmitting localized property information according to a language; a relation tag for identifying a dependence relation provided for a present software updating described in the updating metadata with respect to another software updating; an applicability rule tag for transmitting information for determining applicability of the software updating to a client computer; and a file tag for transmitting information related to a payload file of the software updating.
