<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a human recognition system which recognizes the presence of a human by setting reference patterns indicating temperature distribution of the human according to external world information or positional information of a vehicle, a human recognition device, a storage device constituting the human recognition system and a human recognition method. <P>SOLUTION: The reference patterns H1, H2, ..., set according to the external information or the positional information of the vehicle, are received from a server 6, and the correlation value of the luminance values which pixels of each of human candidates areas P1, P2, ... extracted from image data picked up with video cameras 1, 2 and the reference patterns H1, H2, ... have is calculated.
