PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of cutting, capable of easily manufacturing the leader tape of a desired tapered shape by simplifying the positioning of a press machine and capable of improving the efficiency of press work. SOLUTION: When a part near the end of a leader tape roll is cut mechanically into a tapered shape by an end mill, the part of a predetermined distance from the end of the roll is left with a thickness of the roll, or the tapering and reverse-tapering are executed, and a part therefrom is cut mechanically into a predetermined tapered shape. The reverse-tapered side end of the roll thus manufactured is brought into contact with the positioning of a press machine, and a center is punched by the press machine, while both the ends are left, as they are, thereby manufacturing a leader tape.
