PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a swash plate type variable displacement piston pump reducing cost by cutting down the number of parts and effectively utilizing a drive source.

SOLUTION: The swash plate type variable displacement piston pump is provided with a control mechanism for controlling the discharge by tilting a swash plate according to discharge pressure so that the relation between the discharge pressure and discharge of the swash plate type variable displacement piston pump can be approximate to a hyperbola of a power theoretical value of horsepower constant control, and a spring energized in the tilting direction of the swash plate by the control mechanism. The spring is composed of one spring provided with a plurality of spring constants.
