PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably facilitate artificial coughing by the electric stimulation during a medium or long examination period for evaluating medicaments, which requires a certain period of time, by making electrodes durable in the examination period. SOLUTION: The method is a method of electrically stimulating the trachea for facilitating artificial coughing, and comprises (1) a first process of transmitting electric pulses generated by using an electric pulse generator to an electrode implanted in the bipolar state in the trachea of an animal via a lead wire connected to the electrode and pulled out of the body, and (2) a second process of inducing the cough reaction of the animal by the transmitted electric pulses selectively stimulating the trachea of the animal. A method of evaluating the effect of a medicament on suppressing coughs is provided for determining whether the medicament has the effect on suppressing coughs or not based on the response of the animal to the medicament in the cough reaction induced by the method above.
