PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently generate a multiphoton excitation phenomenon while miniaturizing a measuring head and to facilitate the adjustment in replacement of the measuring head. SOLUTION: This multiphoton excitation type measuring device 1 comprises a laser beam source 2 for oscillating and emitting an ultrashort pulse laser beam, an optical fiber 4 for transmitting the ultrashort pulse laser beam from the laser beam source 2, and the measuring head 3 having optical systems 5, 9, 10 and 11 emitting the ultrashort pulse laser beam transmitted by the optical fiber 4 to a sample A and measuring fluorescence emitted from the sample A or reflected light therefrom. The measuring head 3 and the optical fiber 4 are detachably connected, and the measuring head 3 includes a dispersion compensation member 7 for compensating the group velocity dispersion of the ultrashort pulse laser beam emitted to the sample A.
