PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spinning electric reel which can prevent the complication of the structure and the enlargement of the whole body of the reel and can wind up a fishing line by a motor driving suitable for the state of a fishing field. SOLUTION: This spinning electric reel having a spool motor for wind-driving a spool rotatably supported on the reel body of the reel, a speed-reducing mechanism mounted in a spool-driving system to reduce the rotation power of the spool motor to transmit the reduced power to the spool, and a mechanical transmission for changing the rotation rate of the spool, is characterized in that the mechanical transmission can be operated in two modes comprising an automatic speed change mode for automatically changing the speed into a low speed state or a high speed state by the control of a control means and a manual speed change mode for manually changing the speed into a low speed state or a high speed state, and can furthermore selectively be set to the automatic speed change mode or the manual speed change mode in an outer operation.
