PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of accurately and stably forming a high quality toner image. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises a photoreceptor 15 on which an electrostatic latent image is formed by the exposure according to an image data, developing devices 1, 2, 3, 13 which non-multiply develop a toner image of a plurality of colors on the photoreceptor 15 and a transfer roller 31 which is arranged in the pressurized contact state against the photoreceptor 15, rotates in the direction reverse to that of photoreceptor 15, conveys a recording medium 21 at a line speed slower than that of the photoreceptor 15 and transfers the toner image on the photoreceptor 15 onto the recording medium 21 as a compressed image.
