PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily carry out setting a quick timer in accordance with needs in a living environment or the like, and to satisfy both viewing / hearing a television and a work such as cooking, cleaning or the like. SOLUTION: A timer setting / displaying device comprises a key input means for inputting a timer setting / displaying condition; a microcomputer for controls; and a display means displaying an input condition and executing a timer display by a method of On Screen Display. The timer setting / displaying device executes a screen display outputting process for selecting / inputting timer period designations, display time intervals, and display characters, and carries out a displaying process in response to inputs form the input means by using characters selected by automatically allocating the display time intervals with respect to the timer period designations and by using characters selected at time intervals designated along with the timer period designations. The above-mentioned display means represents the television, and the key input means represents a remote control device for operating the television, whereby screen / voice displaying is carried out.
