PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hands-free apparatus and a hands-free system capable of extending a wireless communication area with a simple configuration by utilizing an existing in-vehicle facility. SOLUTION: The hands-free system 10 wherein each on-vehicle apparatus 30 located in a vehicle 20 is provided with a wireless relay unit 60 for relaying data communication between a mobile phone 40 and the hands-free apparatus 50, properly selects the wireless relaying unit 60 providing a best communication state to the mobile phone 40 among the wireless relaying units 60, and the hands-free apparatus 50 makes data communication with the mobile phone 40 via the selected wireless relaying unit 60. Further, a received sound outputted from the on-vehicle apparatus 30 is outputted to a speaker and used for a reference signal for echo cancel processing in the hands-free apparatus 50, and echo included in the transmission sound is cancelled.
