PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distance detector with simple constitution at low costs by using a wireless tag. SOLUTION: The distance detector S is constituted of a wireless tag 1 and a detector 10 communicating with the wireless tag 1. On the basis of the detection signal output from the distance detector S, control devices 20 such as a computer operate equipment/devices 30. A plurality of circuits Q1 to Qn assembled with elements R1 to Rn for varying circuit impedances in IC chips T are connected in parallel, and switches SW1 to SWn are provided to each circuit Q1 to Qn. By switch operation, circuit is selected and circuit impedance is set, so that a responsible distance of the wireless tag 1 can be set. Existence of response signal to the question signal of the detector 10 is detected and the distance of the wireless tag 1 from the detector 10 can be known from the responsible distance set for the particular IC chip.
