Fluoride-containing stationary phase for liquid chromatography

A stationary phase for liquid chromatography consisting of a carrier mixed with a solid fluoride has been shown to be highly effective for removing organotin impurities from organic compounds. Stoichiometric organotin impurities were reduced to levels below 40 parts per million using a stationary phase comprising of silica as a carrier and mixed with 10% w/w of solid potassium fluoride. Other carriers include alumina, cellulose, agarose and synthetic polymers. The flouride may be an inorganic or organic salt.
