The device has a fitting (10) with a sleeve (14) which transmits driving torque received by an end flange (18) to a camshaft (12). The end flange extends from the sleeve and has a side provided with a set of teeth to co-operate with a driving gear (20). The fitting has an inner peripheral surface with longitudinal slots so that extruded parts of the camshaft are inserted in the slots and integrated to the fitting in a permanent manner. An independent claim is also included for a process for assembling a camshaft and end coupling device.
