A distillation plant (1) has a column (2) with packing (240, 250) and an evaporator (20a). The components making up the plant are arranged along a vertical axis and integrated into a single unit. They are so constructed that during operation there is a slight decline in pressure between a sump (24) and the head (25). The novelty is that: (a) the assembly incorporates two or more evaporators (20a, 20b); (b) the first evaporator (20a) is located either in or immediately above the sump; (c) the intermediate evaporator (20b) is located above the first evaporator (20a) and a lower packing section (240); (d) the assembly also incorporates two or more liquifiers (21a, 21b); (e) the first liquifier (21a) is arranged at the head of the column; (f) the intermediate liquifier (21b) is located under the first liquifier (21a) and an upper packing section (250a); (g) a two-stage (6a, 20a / 6b, 20b,; 6, 21a, 21b) heat pump (25, 6, 20a, 20b; 21a, 21b, 6, 20) provides a transporting linkage (200, 72, 62a, 62b) between the head (25) and the sump (24); (h) the first evaporator (20a) and the intermediate evaporator (20b) form heat sinks at two temperatures; (i) the first liquifier (21b) and the intermediate liquifier (21b) provide heat sources at two temperatures for the heat pumps. |
