PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developing device which can reduce the rise time and electric power consumption of a heating means for performing heat development to a heat developable recording material. SOLUTION: The heat developing device 10 for heat developing the heat developable recording material F previously formed with a latent image by a heat developing section C is formed with thinning part 56a in areas other than a heating surface 54a in a heating member having the heating surface 54a abutting on or slidingly contacting the surface of the heat developable recording material F disposed in the heat developing section C.
