<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a catalyst for cleaning an exhaust gas using a ceramic carrier that enhances warming properties without increasing the displacement pressure loss while suppressing the reduction of the strengths. <P>SOLUTION: This catalyst for cleaning the exhaust gas is characterized by forming a spiral groove which extends spirally toward the downstream side from the upstream side of the exhaust gas on the surface of a catalyst layer 2 of at least the gas-entering side end part of at least one of cell conduits 10.
