PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display wherein display unevenness is hardly caused even when the liquid crystal display formed after alignment layers of a TFT substrate and a counter substrate are subjected to rubbing treatment in rubbing directions nearly orthogonal to each other is continuously energized and which can be manufactured in high yield. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display 70 having an element substrate 9 whose alignment layer is subjected to rubbing treatment by a rubbing roller and a substrate 3 opposed to the element substrate, a dummy electrode 15 is formed in the outer position of a display region opposed to two sides of at least one corner part of the display region where pixel electrodes 90 of the element substrate 9 are formed.
