PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain a large oscillation amplitude without resonance, in a four-degrees-of-freedom nonresonant micromachined gyroscope, using dynamical amplification both in a 2-degree-of-freedom drive-directional oscillator and a 2-degree-of-freedom sensing-directional oscillator having decoupled structure.
SOLUTION: The overall 4--degree-of-freedom dynamical system is provided with three proof masses. The second and third masses form the 2-degree-of-freedom sensing-directional oscillator. The first mass and the combination of the second and third masses form the 2-degree-of-freedom drive-directional oscillator. Frequency responses of the drive mode oscillator and sensing-mode oscillator have two resonant peaks and a flat region between the peaks. A device thereof is nominally operated in the flat regions of response curves belonging to the drive mode oscillator and sensing-mode oscillator, and a gain in the region is less sensitive to frequency fluctuation. This is achieved by designing anti-resonance frequencies for drive and sensing to be matched.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
