The roller has inserts with zones (14) having strong resistance and zones (13) having weak resistance to wear and tear. The zones (14) incorporated with a ceramic reinforcement (18) have a jointed part, and the zones (13) have a non-jointed part. The spacing in the non-jointed part is filled with a cast ductile metal (19) permitting sufficient mechanical connection of the inserts.
