PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a terminal unit capable of dispensing with troublesome setting work conventionally performed by a user, when connecting the terminal unit to which a fixed IP address is set in a place that is different from a place where the terminal unit is used normally. SOLUTION: The terminal unit 100 performs DHCP request to an access point when connecting to a LAN 200. The address information of a network to which the access point belongs is read from the response message of the access point to the DHCP request, and it is determined whether the fixed IP address usually used by the LAN of a connection destination can be used. When the fixed IP address cannot be used in the LAN of the connection destination, setting is made so that an IP address assigned from the LAN of the connection destination is used.
