A sub-unit (12) for a vehicle air conditioning system is shipped with a condenser (30), chiller (32) and fluid lines (34, 36). Snap together couplings (44) are placed on free ends of the fluid lines whereby the sub-unit can be pre-charged, shipped, installed into the front end of a vehicle engine compartment (16) and connected to an air conditioning compressor (42).
