PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To materialize a power unit which does not damage an internal power unit by blowing a fuse safely at application of excessive voltage even in case that a component with its withstand voltage lower than the discharge start voltage of an arrestor is used. SOLUTION: This power unit, which has a rush current limiting means for limiting a rush current by a switching element, has an overvoltage detecting means which detects voltage over a specified value being applied, and a control means which switches on or switching off the above switch element, based on the detection results of this overvoltage detection means.
