PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base station and communication method in which a timing of processing of FFT to signals of a plurality of sub-channel can be appropriately controlled in a communication system for setting the plurality of parallel sub-channels using an OFDM transmission method. SOLUTION: A base station simultaneously loads FFT to signals which arrive after the lapse of transmission times different for each mobile station. In a synchronizing section 114, timing synchronization is performed by utilizing a fact that a known symbol added in the head of a slot of each sub-channel is orthogonal to a symbol in a slot of another sub-channel. A synchronizing point specifying a start timing of FFT is detected from correlative values obtained with regard to the sub-channels. As a method thereof, either one of a method for matching the synchronization with a path of a first timing (preceding path) throughout the sub-channels and a method for detecting a maximum value of the correlative values for each sub-channel and matching the synchronization with a path of the first timing therein is used.
