PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately perform a zooming operation in a macro-photographing mode, and also, to improve the operability by limiting and controlling the moving position of a zoom lens so that a focal extent can be attained in automatic focusing, also, displaying the movable extent of the zoom lens on a display part in accordance with the limit extent of the zoom lens. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus is provided with a macro/zoom operation part 11 capable of selecting a macro-photographing mode/a zoom-photographing mode, a motor driving circuit 8 for driving an imaging lens 1 in the optical axis direction based on the selection of the macro-photographing mode/the zoom-photographing mode, and a macro-photographing time zoom control system 12 for controlling the drive of the imaging lens 1 when the macro-photographing mode/the zoom-photographing mode is selected so that the drive may be limited within the limit extent where the focal state is attained in terms of the focusing control, and also, generating a signal for displaying the driving extent of the imaging lens 1 on the display part 6 in accordance with the limit extent when the macro-photographing mode/the zoom-photographing mode is selected.
