摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure the sufficient sampling duration of a signal output at operation with a low resolution. SOLUTION: This device includes a pixel string 1 in which a plurality of pixels are arranged in a row, first and second charge transfer units 2, 3, a charge detecting unit 6 for detecting signal charge transferred at the first and second charge transfer units, and a final stage electrode 5 each provided near a final stage electrode of a plurality of transfer electrodes 4 at first and second charge transfer units for controlling the flow of signal charge to the charge detecting unit. Each transfer electrode is composed of a first electrode and a second electrode provided near the first electrode. In addition, the number of stages of transfer electrodes at the first charge transfer unit for transferring the signal charge which has been generated at the first pixel as a first odd-number pixel in the pixel string to the final stage electrode agrees with the number of stages of transfer electrodes provided at the second transfer unit for transferring the signal charge, which has been generated at the second pixel as a first even-number pixel in the pixel string, to the final stage electrode.
