PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium such as a magnetic tape or a flexible disk used as a removable magnetic recording medium which realizes high-density recording, having good magnetic and recording characteristics, and durability. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium is provided with a magnetic layer constituted of a ferromagnetic metal alloy containing at least Co, Pt, Cr, and O of 2 to 20 atom % on at least one surface of a flexible high polymer support.
