PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foreign matter falling preventing cover which can prevent foreign matter from falling on a feeding opening without hindering the operability of an edge guide.

SOLUTION: The foreign matter falling preventing cover 29 can close the feeding opening 27 in the process of releasing a scanner unit 5. A free edge 37 of the cover 29, after the free edge is connected to a recorded medium P stored in the uppermost position in a feeding part 7, is led along the uppermost recorded medium P under the state that the feeding opening 27 is closed.
