PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll coater type coating apparatus without dispersing a compounding ratio of powder even if a coating material contains the powder and coating this coating material on the peripheral face of a conductive roller to enable formation of a layer constituting the conductive roller, and a method for coating the conductive roller using the apparatus. SOLUTION: A plurality of dimples are provided on the peripheral face of at least one side of an application roll and a pick up roll, a shape of the dimples is made concave lenticular, and a diameter of which is provided as 10 to 100μm and a depth of which is provided as 10 to 100μm.
