<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent spiral cable assembly which reconciles electric reliability and vehicle mountability, and a variable transmission ratio unit excellent in controllability which is constituted, using it. <P>SOLUTION: This spiral cable assembly has a tubular cover, a sleeve which is arranged on the side of its internal circumference while it can rotate relatively with the cover, a first flexible flat cable 21 where motor lead wires 11a, 11b, 11c for supplying a brushless motor with drive currents are juxtaposed, and a second flexible flat cable which includes a signal lead wire where a current applied is small.
