An oil extraction method comprises pumping a solvent in liquid phase from a solvent reservoir through an oil containing material for the solvent to extract oil from the material to yield a mixture of the solvent and the oil. The mixture is deposited in a distillation tank. The solvent is distilled off the mixture in the tank in the form of a solvent vapor. The solvent vapor is thermally driven from the reservoir back to the tank by applying a temperature differential between the tank and the reservoir, while leaving the oil in the tank.
