<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating liquid for inkjet recording which contains a composite particulate sol of a cationic resin obtained by mixing the cationic resin and an inorganic pigment in the presence of water and grinding/dispersing the mixture, and an adhesive and shows excellent viscosity stability and favorable coating properties, and an inkjet recording medium which uses the coating liquid for inkjet recording, shows high ink absorption, printing water resistance, anti-printing moisture/feathering resistance, and especially outstanding glossiness, and can output an ultrasharp image equivalent to a silver salt photograph. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the inkjet recording medium, by which the coating liquid is obtained by blending the composite particulate sol of the cationic resin at least with the adhesive and a coating layer obtained by applying/drying the coating liquid is formed on a support, a coating liquid shelf life modifier is blended with the composite particulate sol, in at least one stage selected from a stage preceding the adhesive blending process, a stage simultaneous with the adhesive blending process and a stage after the adhesive blending process.
