The box of solid cardboard or corrugated cardboard has recesses formed in the external surfaces of the bottom sections (2) and the external surfaces of at least two opposite facing side sections (1) of the box to accommodate sealing adhesive tapes (5). The surface of the recesses lies at least 0.1 mm beneath the surface of the bottom and side sections. The recesses (3) in the bottom sections are each formed in a width of at least 20 mm parallel to the longitudinal edges of the bottom sections, and the recesses (4) in the side sections are formed in a width of at least 40 mm.
