The rotor of a laboratory centrifuge, rotating in air without an air chamber, has rotor arms (2) ending in fork arms (4) between which containers (6) are hung to swing out on axes (5). On each rotor arm and/or on each container an aerodynamically formed fairing (12,16,20) in the direction of travel is installed in front of at least the radially outer lying areas of the regions (7) of the containers which in the swung out position face the inflow. The fairings are fastened on the rotor arms.
