Images of curved surfaces obtained by optical coherence tomography (such as region defined by a,b,d,e) will typically be represented in a 2D image space in a manner wherein the spatial relationship of image points is distorted. In order to restore the viewed image to be more closely representative of the actual spatial distribution of the image points, image processing is applied to compensate for distortions introduced by, for example, variations in the refractive index within the sample being imaged.
