[PROBLEMS] To provide an optical recording material which can record and reproduce by the use of a blue laser having a short wave length and is of high level. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] An optical recording material which comprises an organic compound (A) functioning as a coloring matter and exhibiting a wave length of maximum absorption (lambdamax) of 340 to 440 nm and a metal complex compound (B) exhibiting a wave length of maximum absorption (lambdamax) of 500 to 900 nm, wherein the content of the organic coloring matter (A) is more than that of the metal complex compound (B), and the material exhibits a light resistance (x) of 30 % or more, as measured by the prescribed test method.
