PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish a system capable of managing and using distributed data in large scale. SOLUTION: A plurality of data management apparatuses are constituted of logical hierarchical structures having a plurality of hierarchies. When there is an access request to a data terminal 102 from a client 150, the access requests are sequentially transferred according to order of hierarchy among specified data management apparatuses out of the plurality of data management apparatuses and the access requests are made to reach the data terminal. Also, when access results with respect to the access requests are sent from the data terminal 102, the access results are sequentially transferred according to order of hierarchy among the specific data management apparatuses out of the plurality of data management apparatuses, and the access results are made to reach the client 105.
