PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve working efficiency for washing while reducing operating noises of an engine of an engine driven washing machine, exhaust gas and the amount of fuel to be used. SOLUTION: A water discharge switch 10 is provided on an injection gun 5. When the water discharge switch 10 is off, the engine 1 is stopped, and when the water discharge switch 10 is on, the engine is started to drive a pump 2. When the discharge pressure of the pump 2 is a preset value or greater, a water discharge valve in the injection gun 5 is opened to establish a water discharging condition. When the water discharge switch is not turned on continuously for a long time, the engine 1 is stopped. When a working starting condition with the injection gun 5 is established, the engine 1 is started. A battery 13 is provided for a starter motor.
