PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation technology capable of storing a large number of necessary travel tracks, by restricting processing on travel tracks in regions, in which users do not require travel tracks and preventing a map display from becoming difficult to view. SOLUTION: A navigation system for retrieving a route over which an mobile body moves to a specified destination, from a starting location and performing route guidance, on the basis of previously provided road map data comprises: a present location detecting part 40 for detecting the present location of the mobile body; a travel track computing part 43 for determining the travel track of the mobile body, on the basis of the road map data and the present location; a memory (SRAM7 etc.) for registering locations which do not require the storage of travel tracks; a region determining part 45 for determining whether the present location is at the periphery of any registered location; and a processing suppressing part 46 for suppressing storage in the memory, when it is determined by the region determining part 45 that the present location is at the periphery of a registered location.
