PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure a pulse wave velocity in the state that stress is reduced among the pulse wave velocities of a living body. SOLUTION: The sleep initiation of a living body is detected by a sleep initiation sensor 10. With the point of time of detecting the sleep initiation as a reference, the pulse wave velocity is measured while 10 to 30 minutes elapse. A pulse wave velocity evaluation device is provided with an alarming means for measuring the pulse wave velocity of the living body in an awake state, setting a threshold on the basis of the pulse wave velocity of the living body measured after the sleep initiation and issuing an alarm on the basis of the comparison of the pulse wave velocity measured in the awake state and the threshold.
