<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium in which adhesion between a recording layer and a base material is enhanced, which has excellent printability in both a thermal transfer recording method and an inkjet recording method, writing characteristic and stamping characteristics and which is biodegradable to contribute to ever increasing problems of waste disposal. <P>SOLUTION: The recording medium has a recording layer formed by applying a coating liquid containing a biodegradable resin comprising an amorphous polylactic acid resin and a filler on at least one surface of a biodegradable crystalline polylactic acid base material. A solvent used in the coating liquid has a solubility parameter in a range of 7.5-12.5 (cal/cm<SP>3</SP>)<SP>1/2</SP>with a solvent content of 40-90 mass% in the coating liquid.
