PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing newsprint paper that little causes uneven coating and mist scattering, when a coating agent is coated with a gate roll coater in high-speed paper making (more than 1,500 m/min). SOLUTION: In this newsprint paper-making method at a high speed more than at 1,500 m/min, the raw news print paper before the gate roll coating is prepared so that the moisture content may become 9 to 11% according to JIS P8127. In addition, the gate roll coating of this newsprint paper is carried out as the peripheral speed ratio between the applicator roll 1 and the metering roll 2 and the fountain roll 3 is set to 100/95 to 75/80 to 60.
