PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain molding sand by blast-crushing slag produced at Ni-smelting time and using comparatively coarse grain sand in spheroidized artificial sands, to reduce cost of the sand, and to regenerate the sand. SOLUTION: In artificial sand obtained by blast-crushing molten slag of nickel ore slag mainly composed of 2MgO-SiO<SB>2</SB>or mullite-base artificial sand mainly composed of Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, the grain size constitution of facing sand used for surface layer of the mold is made to correspond to No.20 to < No.48 grain size specified in JIS G5901-1974. In the artificial sand of 2MgO-SiO<SB>2</SB>as the main components or the mullite-base artificial sand of Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>as the main component, the artificial sand for mold corresponding to No.10 to < No.20 grain size specified in JIS G5901-1974 and the fine grain sand corresponding to No.48 to No.200 grain size regulated in JIS G5901-1974, are mixed and made the facing sand.
