The guide wire is equipped with an inner core (16) divided into two segments (18, 20) of different levels of rigidity and also of different diameters and a tip (30) reinforced by a flat metal strip (32). The rear segment (18) is accommodated in a mantle of stainless steel (22) or a material of a similar quality. The front area is surrounded by a tightly wound helical spring (36) attached to the inner core (16) at three points (42) and restricted regarding its elasticity by the flat strip (32).
